Christian rapper Big Rich born Richard Myron Jones on March 20, 1987; in Bay City Texas. He attended LaMarque High School and also Texas Tech University. Big Rich was an All-State football player and Houston Defensive player of the year. Growing up he didn’t have a lot of role models. One person that did influence his life was Lecrae, who inspired him to change his life and live for the Lord. Rich was able to be the first person in his family to graduate high school and attend college. Rich started rapping at the age of thirteen. He once asked his high friend, former R&B Crooner J. Long who peaked at #4 on the Billboard Charts with his hit single “Personal Freak” to sign him to his label J. FAM Music. But the timing was not right and Rich was not really ready. J told him to keep in touch and he did. Big Rich was later involved in a serious incident where he almost killed a man and his life would be changed forever. The gun he had pulled out in an attempt to shoot a man, drew two blanks and the man’s life was saved. While leaving the incident Big Rich was driving home when a cop stopped him. Rich still had the gun in his car and prayed to God, that if he was able to make it home unscathed, he would completely devote his life to Him. Rich was saved as the officer did not see the gun and let him go. Rich saw that God spared his freedom for a reason so he wanted to help others learn how powerful and merciful the Lord is. He made it his mission to make sure he lets others know about Gods good grace through his music. Rich started performing his material by chance when his Pastor asked him to perform for Easter Sunday. The congregation enjoyed it which encouraged Big Rich. Big Rich felt that he was now ready and reached out to J. Long again. It was perfect timing as J. Long had stopped working with Pretty Ricky and became a Christian. Since he had given his life to God he felt that J. FAM Music was the perfect fit for him. Big Rich is currently signed to J. FAM Music and is able to spread the Lord’s message in a grander scale. Big Rich is set to release his first studio album titled The Transformation Part One. The album features Bruce “Bang” Takara, Tim Mcgee and J. Fam Music artist Jeida, Slick’em from Pretty Ricky and Rich’s wife Lori Jones. He is continuing to grow as an artist. He is a dedicated, persistent, and disciplined artist. He describes his sound as southern crunk mixed with a J.Long feel. All his music is made to praise the Lord. In the future, Rich would like to work with Lecrae, Thisl, Tripp Lee and Andy Mineo. Rich wants to continue to spread the word with 116 Click so people can be touched by the words and feel good. A verse Big Rich lives by daily is Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do and he will make straight your paths. His first single from the album entitled “Jesus I Need You” ft J. Long is available now.
